Day twenty eight
Sunday March 26, 2017
Day twenty eight would begin in the rain and it would end in the rain. It was only seven and a half miles from Derrick Nob shelter to Double Spring shelter and that was fine with me. The only other alternative was to tackle Clingman’s Dome late in the day and I was not prepared for that. It was another day of hiking in the rain and the trail was even muddied than yesterday. And yes it was up hill all day. The trail was beginning it’s assent up Clingman’s Dome.
I arrived at Double Spring shelter fairly early, about 3:30, set up my tent and climbed inside, happy to be out of the rain and the wind. Yes besides the rain I was still dealing with the wind. I climbed into my sleeping bag and waited for the night.
196.4 miles down 1993.4 miles to go.
I started reading your posts to Bill and he loves hearing them. He said to tell you he can’t wait each day to hear about your adventure.

Yes, I bet the “home” you carry every step of your journey feels quite nice always but especially on those tough damn days!
My best, Captain!
